At TMT, we go beyond teaching makeup — we build successful careers. As Australia’s oldest makeup school, TMT has been shaping the industry for decades, with a proud legacy of training professional makeup artists who have worked on major film, television, fashion, and theatre productions both locally and internationally.
Our small class sizes ensure personalised attention from industry-experienced educators who bring real-world expertise from the highest levels of screen, fashion, and media. You’ll receive the dedicated mentoring and support needed to master every technique — from everyday beauty application to advanced special effects.
We deliver a comprehensive, well-rounded education that equips you with the practical, creative, and professional skills essential for long-term success in the competitive world of screen and media. Whether you aspire to become a sought-after makeup artist in film, work backstage at major fashion shows, create special effects for television, or build a versatile career across the creative industries, our specialist courses open doors to all these pathways — and many more.
Our exclusive partnership with Kryolan Professional Make-up, the global leader in professional makeup, further enhances your learning. TMT students gain access to Kryolan’s extensive resource library, exclusive industry webinars, and professional online platform. You’ll tap into Kryolan’s vast international network across fashion, theatre, film, and TV, while benefiting from special discounts on their premium professional-grade products, including skincare, beauty makeup, airbrushing tools, and special effects (SFX) materials.
Yes, we require students to complete 200 hours of work placement to complete their studies.
50 hours can be completing makeup on friends and family, but the remaining 150 must be done through other opportunities where you put the skills you’ve learnt to work.
There is no actual cut-off date for domestic students to enrol for any of our courses, as all of our classes fill based on demand. We advise that anyone interested in studying with us enrol as soon as they can to avoid missing out on a place. International students would need to have their enrolment form and deposit in so that their eCoE can be issued. Visa processing times vary but you should allow up to 8-12 weeks. Where possible we recommend applying for your visa as soon as you have received your eCoE.
This depends largely on which courses you’re wanting to study.
If you’re interested in studying more than once course with us we offer discounts on tuition for multiple enrolments and up-front payments.
At TMT Education, we recognize your existing skills and knowledge. Through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Credit Transfers, you may reduce your study time by earning credit for:
-
Work experience (e.g., salon assistants, apprentices).
-
Past qualifications (e.g., completed units from other institutions).
-
Informal training (e.g., workshops, online courses).
